JNU combined biotechnology entrance, because of the vastness of syllabus it won’t be an effortless task to clear the examination.  Biology makes the major part of exam as about 20 quest out of 60 in Part - A and approx. 55 - 60 out of 100 questions are asked in Part - B from the different fields of biology.    


Going through the entire syllabus of biology is easier said than done. Keeping in the mind the fact that there are number of different fields of study in biology, we have segregated the total questions that have been asked in both part A and B during last three years ie 2012 - 2014. For the sake of better comprehension we have divided the biology portion into 15 subtopics, the classification helps you to organize your strategy

OK I agree the syllabus of biology is extremely broad nevertheless getting good score in biology’s portion in JNU Combined Biotech entrance isn’t.  Five topics viz Biochemistry, Molecular biology, Cell biology, Animal physiology & development and Plant physiology & development alone account for about 48 to 50 questions each year. Therefore we suggest thorough and organized preparation of these subjects.

Another valuable inference is that you dont have to bother for subjects such as Bioinformatics, Ecology, Evolution and Taxonomy, as very few questions are being asked from these areas.

Biotechnology including Genetic Engineering, Microbiology, Biophysical and Biomolecular techniques are constantly providing good numbers of questions. If you are from the applied biology background you must prefer these sections.

Genetics is one area for which students must prepare and practice very well, you may not expect but more questions may be asked, as shown in the table above.
